"Championing OER" event - presentations now available

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following the recent "Championing open educational resources - finding, creating, sharing" event at the University of Ulster, we are pleased to announce that the presentations from the day are now available to view.

Speakers from a variety of organisations, including the Higher Education Academy, the Information and Computing Science Subject Centre, the Regional Support Centre for Northern Ireland and Jorum, covered a range of issues around sharing resources openly, from creation and release of OER, to ownership and copyright, and both finding and depositing resources in JorumOpen.

There was lively debate about the issues - and benefits - of releasing resources as OER, and a live webcast from
Naomi Korn (IP consultant) on the practical use of Creative Commons was followed by a question and answer session.

Held at the Jordanstown campus of the University of Ulster on 3rd June, the event was kindly sponsored by the Information and Computing Science Subject Centre, and was well received by delegates:

"Very informative day"

"Lots of useful materials on the web via Jorum that I never knew about"

"Good advice on cc licences"
